Do you have that one lamp or fixture that constantly needs a new light
bulb? Quit allowing your light bulbs to blow out for the same reasons
time and time again. Utilize these tips to prevent blown light bulbs in
your home.

LED & CFL Alternatives

Years back, the most used light bulbs were the incandescent and halogen
models. Nowadays, LED and CFL bulbs are most used because of their efficiency
and longevity. CFL light bulbs last five times as long as incandescent
bulbs, but only use one-quarter of the power. LED light bulbs are the
preferred choice because not only do they use 80 percent less energy than
incandescent bulbs, but they also last up to 100,000 hours.

Reasons for Blown Bulbs

  • Using a cheap brand, or an old bulb in a newer fixture, will increase your
    chances of a blowout.
  • Check the maximum wattage of the fixture and purchase a corresponding bulb
with a matching, or lesser wattage.
  • Screw in all light bulbs so they sit tight and firm within the fixture.
A loose connection can cause a spike in electricity, blowing out the bulb.
  • If you choose CFL bulbs, place them in fixtures that aren't frequently
turned on and off. Constantly turning this bulb on and off will shorten
    its lifespan.
  • Sometimes the wiring of the fixture will cause light bulbs to blow. Contacting a professional electrician to check your home’s wiring may be necessary.

A blown light bulb happens from time to time, but if this is a regular
