HVAC Care for Pet Owners
Whether your pet of choice is a dog, cat, or maybe even a mini pig, you know that certain things in your home have to change in order to accommodate your new furry friend. You may have to put gates at the tops and bottoms of stairwells, remove certain plants that could be dangerous to them, or stock up on couch covers to protect your furniture from all the shedding.
Another thing that you need to take note of is how you need to adjust your HVAC care once you have a pet. These are a few things you should keep in mind in order to make sure your home is comfortable and safe for everyone.
Choose Quality Filters
Not only should you be cleaning your filters regularly, but you also may want to invest in higher quality filters. The stronger your filter is, the more dust, dander, and fur it can catch to keep your air clean and your system functioning well.
Dust Often
Especially if you have a pet that sheds a lot, it’s essential to vacuum and dust your home often. At least once a week, clean your home using a microfiber cloth to trap dust and dander. Regularly vacuum any carpet and upholstery furniture to get rid of allergens. How frequently you do so will vary based on the breed/type of pet.
Groom Your Pet Regularly
If you skip grooming, your pet will likely shed much more dander and fur around your home. Aim to brush your pet at least every other day, and bathe them twice a month to get their fur free of dander, pollen, and other particles.
Invest in an Air Filtration System
Sometimes, all your efforts still don’t make a big difference in the state of your home, your indoor air quality, or the safety of your HVAC system. In cases like this, it’s often best to invest in an air filtration system that can catch almost all of the allergy-inducing particles around your home that your pets produce or bring in.
