The Power Of The LED
Quality LEDs have longer expected lifespans of approximately 30000 – 50000 hours compared to incandescent bulbs and fluorescent bulbs that each have lifespans of approximately 1000 hours and 9000 hours, respectively. LEDs don’t burn out like incandescent lighting but rather dim over time. Due to their longer lifespans, bulb replacement in a home setting is reduced, therefore offering a low maintenance lighting system! Apart from their increased operational life, here are some additional benefits:
They Are Energy Efficient
LED lights are energy-efficient, consuming roughly 50% less electricity than traditional fluorescent, halogen, and incandescent options, and are thus responsible for substantial energy cost savings. This is increasingly useful for areas where the lights are expected to be on for extended periods of time.
They Are Suitable For Cooler Climates
Low-temperature conditions won’t phase LEDs. They will continue to operate efficiently, as opposed to fluorescent lamps that require higher voltages to power up at low temperatures. LEDs are more suitable for cold storage places and freezers as well as outdoor areas such as building parameters, parking lots, and to illuminate signage.
They Are Durable
LEDs are more durable than other bulbs, as they are don’t have glass enclosures or filaments. This reduces the chances of bulb breakage from vibrations or impact accidents. Additionally, LEDs are more suitable for use with daylight sensors and flashing light displays due to their lifespan being unaffected by the regularity with which they are switched off and on (rapid cycling). In contrast, traditional light sources have their lifespans shortened by rapid cycling.
They Are Environmentally Friendly
If you are looking for an eco-conscious lighting option, LEDs are your best bet. They essentially emit no ultraviolet radiation (UV) or infrared (IR) compared to incandescent lights, which actually only convert less than 10% of power to visible light.
