5 Things in Your Home You Should Splurge On

Are you in the process of moving into a new home or remodeling your current home?

If so, it can be difficult to buy everything you want as these things can be expensive with each new thing on your wishlist. With that being said, you have to pick and choose what you want to splurge on.

There are a few things that are worth splurging on, as they will make your home more efficient — or look a whole lot nicer!

1) Bathroom Fixtures & Hardware

The bathroom is a room that’s at the top of the list for renovations and updates. However, buying the nicest tubs, showers, sinks, tile, and accessories can cost an arm and a leg.

Choose the most functional bathroom fixtures that also look nice, but won’t completely break the bank. If you’re looking to add a small dose of luxury to your bathroom, splurge a little on things like the sink faucet, shower head, and cabinet handles.

These small upgrades won’t cost you too much but will look as luxurious as we know you want your bathroom to look.

2) A Quality Mattress

Roughly eight of your 24 hours each day is spent sleeping on your bed. Why wouldn’t you want to invest the money in a good mattress?

It might seem like the smart move to save a few hundred dollars by buying a cheaper mattress, but can you really put a price on a good night’s sleep? When it comes to mattresses, you get what you pay for.

Spending the extra on a mattress will allow you to sleep comfortably for the next 10 plus years, rather than getting an achy sleep with the need for a replacement within a couple of years. And don’t forget to get a good pillow to match your new mattress too.

3) Efficient Air Conditioning

Are you relying on a 20-year-old HVAC system or a couple of window A/C units?

Either option is going to result in high energy bills and a home that isn’t cooled evenly. If you have either of these A/C problems then you should consider having a new cooling system installed.

Your best options include installing a brand new forced air HVAC system or a mini-split ductless system. If you have ductwork that is in good condition, the forced air system might be your best bet. If your home doesn’t have ductwork, opt for the mini-split ductless system.

Both of these cooling options will bring your energy bills down and your comfort levels up!

4) LED Light Bulbs

If you’re still using the average incandescent light bulbs, head to the store immediately. With the efficiency of LED light bulbs, no one should ever be using the older light bulbs ever again.

While yes, LED light bulbs are more expensive, they also last roughly 50 times longer than incandescent light bulbs and are more energy efficient! They are also brighter and have a more accurate color representation.

When you buy LED light bulbs for your home, you won’t have to purchase new ones for a long, long time.

5) Contractors for Home Repairs

When you need things fixed in your home (HVAC system, electrical, plumbing, roofing, appliances, etc.), don’t always go for the cheapest option. Like many things, you get what you pay for. Some of the best companies are usually more money than the cheaper companies, but still competitively priced.

You want to make sure you find a company with a good reputation, high rating, years of experience in the field, and one that is insured.

The last thing you want to do is pay a cheap contractor money to do something, have them botch the job, and then have to pay a reliable company to fix what they did. You’ll end up spending WAY more than you need to. So do your research before committing to a company.

Purchasing a brand new hot tub might not be the smartest way to spend your money, so we’ll let you know what you should be spending the extra money on.
