Keep It Covered Hot water heaters and their lines will lose heat due to the lack of insulation, so it’s time to cover them up. Wrap the unit itself in an insulation blanket and install pipe sleeves over the lines. Once the hot water heater has been insulated, you’ll waste less water waiting for hot water to reach the faucet.
Repair the Leaks A leak can exist anywhere throughout the plumbing system in your home. Whether there’s a small leak at the faucet, in the plumbing lines, or at the hot water heater, have them repaired immediately. Lifestyle Changes There’s no need to run the dishwasher when it’s only half filled. Wait until the dishwasher is filled completely to run a wash cycle. It’s also financially irresponsible to take multiple baths per week. Take quick showers at a reasonable temperature to drastically cut the amount of water and energy you use.
