How to Improve Your Shower’s Water Pressure
You know the moment well: you’re taking a shower and the water pressure is so low that you can barely wash the shampoo out of your hair. Not only is it annoying to deal with, but low water pressure can also be a sign of a number of different plumbing issues in your bathroom. To improve your shower’s water pressure, here are a few steps you can take.
Clean Out Your Showerhead
Over time, sediments and other gunk can build up inside your shower head — this is especially the case if you have hard water in your house. To remedy this issue, pour some distilled white vinegar into a plastic bag and wrap it around your shower head. Leave it there for a few hours, remove it, and let the water run to rinse away any leftover vinegar and sediment.
Replace Your Showerhead
You may be using a low-flow shower head in an effort to conserve water, but sometimes, those fixtures are a bit too low-flow and don’t allow an adequate amount of water to stream through them. If this is the case, it may be best to replace that showerhead with one that allows for a bit more flow.
Check Your Water Main
If you noticed that the low water pressure is not only an issue in your bathroom but other areas of your home, as well, take a look at your water main. It may not be fully on or open, leading to less water flowing through your home.
Check Your Curbside Main
If you’ve had any construction or other work done on your home recently, check your curbside main (your water meter) to ensure that the valve is fully turned on. If it’s not, that may be the reason you have low water pressure.
